| Who is Rustic Crust? |
Rustic Crust is a New Hampshire based bakery specializing in all natural, Old World crusts and flatbreads that are as convenient as they are delicious. Founded in 1996 as Ever Better Eating, Rustic Crust offers a variety of ready-made crusts and frozen flatbread pizzas, each crafted with dough formed by hand, allowed to slowly ferment, double proofed, and baked in custom ovens for rich flavor. |
| Where is Rustic Crust made? |
Our all natural and organic shelf stable pizza crusts are made in our bakery in Pittsfield, NH. Our frozen pizzas are authentically Italian – made in Italy in a special wood-fired oven – using our unique recipes and process. Our gluten free crusts are made in a separate gluten free facility to avoid any danger of cross-contamination. |
| Is Rustic Crust all natural? |
Yes. Rustic Crust is committed to using the highest quality, all natural ingredients. Our recipes are simple and healthful, with a short list of ingredients that are easy to pronounce. There are no artificial preservatives, trans-fats, hydrogenated oils, GMOs or added sugar. |
| Are the crusts organic as well? |
As of right now, two of the flavors are organic -- Great Grains and Pizza Originale. We are developing others, so ‘stay tuned’. |
| Do the crusts need to be refrigerated or frozen? |
No. They should be just fine kept on the pantry shelf. |
| How do they stay fresh? |
We use a packaging process that took us years to develop. |
| Is the freshness pack the same thing I see in sneakers and other stuff? |
No. It is combination of natural clay and iron powder. It absorbs the oxygen in the air inside the package. |
| What happens if I eat it? |
The pouch warns against eating. However, if you do, it won’t taste very good; but nothing seriously bad will happen. If you are concerned you can feel free to either call us or contact your physician. |
| How long should the crusts last? |
They will last for up to 150 days from the date they were made. On the front of the package is a sell by date. Use that as your guide. |
| Is it ok if I freeze the crusts? |
Yes. But, take them out of the freezer and let them thaw for 10 or 15 minutes before you top and bake them. |
| Are the crusts vegetarian or vegan? |
All of the crusts are vegetarian. Most are vegan with the exception of the Cheesy Herb and Italian Herb. Cheesy Herb is made with cheese and butter and the Italian Herb has butter. |
| Your gluten free crusts – are they made in a gluten free facility? |
Yes. |
| Do the gluten free crusts contain any dairy products? |
No. |
| Is your sauce gluten free? |
Yes; but it is not made in a gluten free facility so we don’t market it as gluten free. |
| Can the crusts be cooked in a microwave? |
We don’t recommend cooking in a microwave. They are a bread product and tend to become mushy when microwaved like most breads do. |
| Do I need to bake them on a pizza stone? |
No. That’s not necessary. You can bake them right on the rack of your oven. If you have a stone and would like to use it, by all means, go for it. |
| Are the crusts Kosher? |
No, not at this time; but we are working on it so, ‘stay tuned’. |
